NASCAR SUPER STOCKS RACERS
Change in time for February 11th Meeting - it will be at 3 PM rather than 1 PM!

STACKER RACING IN 2012
This class is gathering a ton of steam! We have a number of cars being built and look to debut this class in June. Don't miss out on it. There will be a prize purse for this class, based on the number of cars in the class. Under 10 cars will pay $300 for first; $200 for 2nd and $100 for 3rd. As more cars are added to the mix the prize money will go up. So start building your Stacker!

To our Super Stock Racers and those interested in racing in the Super Stock Class this year at Edmonton Int'l Raceway. 

We will be hosting a meeting on Saturday, February 11th at 1 pm to talk about the upcoming season and the plans for this class. Topics include: NASCAR Sanctioning and year-end payouts from NASCAR, Prize Money paid by EIR nightly, Rules and Race Schedule.

We are very excited about the future of this class. It is looking very good and definitely a class you want to become involved in. 

Please attend this meeting, we would love to have you there. Registrations and NASCAR Licenses will be available at this meeting. Get ready to be involved in some great racing at EIR!

Dear Edmonton Int’l Raceway Racers,

Many of you are involved in various charitable projects. The Wetaskiwin Stock Car Club (WSCC) itself has a long history doing the same, and we may be able to also support your charitable efforts.

The WSCC plans to make a program available to EIR Racers. We can name or otherwise support a race, or race night for your Charity or Awareness Campaign. Both you and your project would be highlighted that race night. We like to help you with promoting your Charity. In addition, if your organization has a valid Gaming License they may be able to book that night at the racetrack to take on the 50/50 for that night. That organization would have to provide the workers and take full responsibility for the 50/50 in partnership with the WSCC’s Gaming Advisor – Jane Brown. Awareness opportunities include setting up an information and display booth for your Organization, “At-Track” Announcements (you would provide the script for our Announcer). Advertising is also available at a very reasonable cost in the Wetaskiwin Stock Car Club’s Race Program Booklet. This is the Program Booklet that is sold to the fans every race night through the season, with a six page insert for the current race night.  

All requests must be made in writing and provided to Loretta Thiering to forward to the WSCC for review, no later than March 31, 2012.

BLIND BEHIND THE WHEEL EVENT ANNOUNCED!
This year's Blind Behind the Wheel Fundraising Event is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, 2012. This is our very exciting and popular annual Alberta Guide Dog Association Fundraising event. Visually impaired participants get in the "racer's" seat and race at Edmonton Int'l Raceway along with an EIR Navigator. Be ready to attend this race to cheer on your favourite racer and navigator! 2012 RULES
Rules for the Osman Auction NASCAR Feature Stocks, the NASCAR Late Models, NASCAR Thunder Cars, NASCAR Super Stock Late Models, Lanko Glass Hit to Pass and Stacker Rules are now ready. If you would like a copy, please send me an email! The Osman Auction Future Stock Rules are the same as the Feature Stocks it is just the age group that is different (12 - 15 years).

LEGENDS CARS & IMCA'S 2012 SCHEDULE FOR EIR & the IMCA ROY ross memorial!
We have confirmed our IMCA dates for 2012: May 26, June 16 (IMCA Roy Ross Memorial Race), July 21, August 18, August 25, September 22 and September 29th. The Legends Cars are tentatively scheduled for: May 12, June 9, July 28, September 8 and September 22, 2012.

Probably one of our best banquets ever! Thank you to everyone for attending and I really hope you had a great time! Our new location at West Edmonton Mall worked out wonderfully and the racers were in great form. Thank you very much to our DJ Nick Taylor from Equinox Sound, his  sound production at the mall made this one the best ever and probably for the first time in many banquets, his tunes kept everyone on the dance floor until the very end! The cars are still on display, #1 NASCAR Modified of racer Terry Dowler, The #32 Legend Car of Adam Gilbert, EIR's new NASCAR Super Stock and our fun and silly class car for 2012 the "STACKER" is still on display.

Our 2011 Race Season has now concluded. Even though the weather started out quite poorly it did manage to pick up later in the year and our August and September Events were wonderful! We are working hard behind the scenes to bring you a really exciting 2012 Race Season. Please keep in touch throughout the winter months. There are some cars for sale as racers move up into different classes, let us know if you are thinking of selling your car or purchasing a race car, we can help you with that. We don't anticipate a lot of changes to the rules however we will be reviewing them and the 2012 rules should be ready about mid-November. If you can attend our Banquet, it is going to be a lot of fun, anyone can attend, we would love to have you there! Thanks again to all of you that continue to support EIR and help us to grow every year!

We have updated our Race Schedule as follows: No racing on Saturday, October 1st, we will add the Thunder Car 100 to our Sunday, October 2nd Pumpkin Bowl afternoon along with the Future Stocks. Pit and Spectator Gates will open at 11 am and racing will start at 1 pm. We will include the Thunder Cars, Future Stocks, Feature Stock Soccer and our Final Hit to Pass. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24

A big thank you to Barry McTavish and Jus-Co Industries for adding additional prize money to the IMCA Roy Ross Memorial Race on Saturday, September 24th! Here is the purse at this time (we may get even bigger!) - this purse is regardless of car count!

EIR PUMPKIN BOWL - Sunday, October 2nd

Here is a little more information on the EIR Pumpkin Bowl scheduled for Sunday, October 2nd. Pit Gates and Spectator Gates will both open at 11 am. Racing will begin at 1 pm. We will include the Final LANKO GLASS HIT TO PASS for the 2011 Race Season (this will be a great event as the points are close!); we will also try out our brand new giant soccer ball for the Feature Stock Soccer Game. We will also include Feature and Future Stock Races. The Feature Stock and Future Stock Races will be fairly informal, a good day to try out a new car or let someone race your car, it will be a non-points event and I have a number of trophies that we need to give out so come on out and just enjoy an afternoon of fun racing!

THINGS JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER AT EIR!

I am so excited for everyone to see the track this weekend! Thanks to Kowal Construction from Crossfield, our pit entry hole will be much improved! Rod Pahl is still working on the grass cutting, Ron has been working hard fixing up the front straightaway dirt and hills and Russell has been working out here all week, it just looks awesome! I'm not sure if Kowal Construction will have the main road completely paved by tonight but they are certainly working hard on it! Tomorrow will be such a wonderful day at EIR, great weather, new and improved facility, a great race program lined up, what else could we ask for! Don't miss our event tomorrow - September 10th, it's going to be spectacular!

ROY ROSS MEMORIAL IMCA RACE -
Saturday, September 24

We are very excited to announce that the Roy Ross Memorial IMCA Race will be scheduled at EIR on Saturday, September 24th. This is a tribute race to #47 IMCA Racer Roy Ross who lost his life doing what he loved, racing. Please come out and support this event!

NASCAR THUNDER CAR SPECIAL - SEPTEMBER 17TH

We would like to schedule in a NASCAR Thunder Car Special on Saturday, September 17th. We are tentatively looking at 100 laps, however that might be too long, we would like to have at least 15 Thunder Cars for this event. Please email me at speedway@syban.net to provide me with feedback and whether you can attend. We would love to get as many Thunder Cars out as possible to put on this grand event!

GREAT NEWS!

This is awesome news! The gravel road leading to the race track is being paved! They should have that complete by this weekend's race! No more mucky gravelly mess when it rains and no more dust when it's dry! We are so excited! This will also help encourage more show and shines and motorcycles coming to EIR as that gravel stretch could certainly be an issue! Thank you to the County of Wetaskiwin for getting this done!

CHANGE IN RACE SCHEDULE!

THE DERKS CHAMPIONS WALK OF FAME AND EIR BANQUET - SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH

GREAT RACING BY ALL ON AUGUST 20TH!
What a great night of racing on August 20th! The stands were full, the weather was perfect and the racing was spectacular. Lots of clean passing and huge compliments to the racers for their excellent performance! I really want to thank all of those that helped with the Blind Behind the Wheel Event. It was an awesome show! The racers thrilled the crowd and the Fans' appreciation was expressed by a huge standing ovation at the final race, it couldn't have been better!

FUTURE STOCK SPECIAL
The Future Stock Special has been rescheduled to Saturday, August 20th. Just to confirm that the Future Stocks ARE on the schedule for this Saturday, August 6th however not a Special Event.

CHANGE IN SCHEDULE
We have made some changes in the Race Schedule! On August 13th we have taken off the Thunder Cars and added the Super Stocks. On August 20th we have taken off the Feature Stocks and added the Super Stocks. This is due to the many rainouts and as a result not enough events for the Super Stocks.

JULY 17, 2011 - CARS LEFT AT EIR
There are a few Feature Stock Cars parked along the North side of the Pit Fence at EIR and we would like to know the status of them. If we don't hear back from you by Saturday, July 23, 2011 we will keep them as EIR Property, so please advise! The cars are: a #52 (reddish in colour); Another #52 (blue and white); and a blue #54. Please let us know if these belong to you and what your intentions are. Thank you!

JULY 13, 2011 - CRAFTSMAN NASCAR MECHANIC OF THE YEAR
All NASCAR Members are eligible to vote for a NASCAR Team Member for the Title Honour of Mechanic of the Year! Ballots are available at the Back Gate and I believe that voting closes in Mid-September. So all you NASCAR Members vote for your choice of EIR's NASCAR Mechanic of the Year! The award includes a plaque from NASCAR, recognition at the EIR Banquet and a Gift Card from NASCAR for Craftsman Tools and a Cash Award from NASCAR!

The Pit Assignment for Saturday, July 12th is quite simple, Legends along the back tires and straightaway. Late Models along the south side of Pit Row, Thunders and Feature Stocks along the north side of Pit Row.

SPECIAL EVENT
We have tentatively scheduled August 6th as a Special Event for the Osman Auction NASCAR Feature Stocks, however we really want a commitment of least 15 cars for the Feature Stocks and this will be a 50 Lap Feature with prize money. Talk to your fellow Feature Stock racers and let's get the whole gang out that day! I'll have a Registration Form and information available at the Back Gate this Saturday or email me and I will send you a copy.

We are going to try really hard to run the 10 Lap Stock Car Test Drives for Sunday at 12 Noon, if you have a test drive booked for Saturday, July 9th, you are welcome to come on Sunday at 12 Noon or you can certainly rebook. Please keep an eye on our website for updates in this regard. Thank you!

JUNE 23 - CHANGE IN SATURDAY'S CLASSES
Just a quick note to advise that on Saturday, June 25th we will not have the Baby Grands or the FEATURE Stocks on the schedule. The Blind Behind the Wheel Racers are very excited about this Saturday's race and we want to ensure we allow them enough time to race safely and have a lot of fun! On the Schedule for Saturday include, of course, the Blind Behind the Wheel Races, a Double Feature for the NASCAR Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Osman Auction FUTURE Stocks, Mini Cups and NASCAR Thunder Cars. Late Model Racers
It is very important that all your crew has a NASCAR License, anyone coming in to help you must complete a membership form and pay the $90 fee. This is very important, at the end of the year the Feature Division (Late Models) receive a very substantial payout from NASCAR therefore it is only fair that we do our part and keep up the membership portions! Thank you!

Loading and Unloading your Race Vehicles at EIR
We have just poured new concrete along the edges of the track to help sustain the edges, PLEASE DO NOT drive your tow vehicles over the edges of the race track! This is for all areas of the race track, when you drive in, please stay on the track, drive into the pit area or pit row but DO NOT take a short cut over the edges of the track! VERY, VERY, IMPORTANT! Thank you!

If anyone would like to register their "Future Stock Racer" into our School, we are scheduling that for Friday, May 6th at 6 pm. The cost will be $75. Ron will walk the track with them, explain the flags, give them lots of tips for driving safely and competitively. They will have to use their own cars and of course they will get track time in this session as well. We would like everyone who registers to provide a $50 deposit just so that we know we will have enough participants.

We have added Special Events on the Schedule Page of the Website for the Late Models, Super Stocks, Modifieds, Feature & Future Stocks and Thunder Cars. The Special Events will be based on the number of cars racing on a consistent basis throughout the beginning of the year, we will need to have a minimum number of cars in order to hold the Special Event. The Special Events are also a means of thanking those that do race consistently at EIR, therefore we will most likely do something on those days however the scale will be determine on car count. Thanks everyone! Start working on your race cars, racing is not that far away!

After trying many ways I think I have finally solved our Google Map problem with EIR! If you follow this link it will give you exact driving directions to the race track! Yey! For years I had trouble with this because we don't actually have an address at EIR....

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR - RUSSELL HILL - 2010
Russell Hill of Wetaskiwin was awarded the Volunteer of the Year for 2010 at Edmonton Int'l Raceway and it couldn't have been awarded to a more deserving person. Russell is at the track early on a Saturday (typically he stays over the night before so he is ready bright and early for Saturday) and stays over Sunday to help as well. Russell has been with EIR for over 12 years and helps in all capacities at EIR, from parking at the Back Gate, Security, Front Gate and even cooking. When you see Russell in 2011 please commend him on his hard work and commitment!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a very nice Christmas and were able to spend some time with family and enjoy the day!
The rules for 2011 are now ready, please email me and I will send you a copy of the class rules that you need. Registration Forms are also ready, early Registration is $50 on or before February 28, 2011 and $75 after that. If you need a Registration Form, please let me know as well. I will also send out an email letting everyone know these are ready now.
In the past racers have asked why they need to register their cars with EIR. There are a number of reasons why we do this. It helps us to gauge how many cars are committed to that class for the upcoming year; the registration also entitles you to participate in the DERKS Champions Walk of Fame at West Edmonton Mall with Derks sponsoring the Tuxedos for the top 3 winners in EVERY class each year. The registration also provides you with tickets for your Sponsors. You simply provide me with the name and addresses of your Sponsors and I will send them a letter on your behalf and Edmonton Int'l Raceway thanking them for supporting your Team. We do not solicite them for any other reason, simply a Thank You along with 6 event tickets that they can use however they wish to come watch you throughout the race season. In August you also have the opportunity to invite your Sponsors to a Sponsor Appreciation Night. We provide complimentary admission and a steak BBQ meal, you simply cover a small part of that BBQ for only $8.00. We send out the invitations and you only pay for those Sponsors that arrive.
ALLl racers racing at EIR will be required to register their cars.

VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS - 2011
Our EIR Volunteers are extremely important to all of us. There are a number of volunteers that have been with us for years and they are one of the most important components of EIR!
This year we are asking current Volunteers and potential Volunteers to complete an application form. This will give us a better understanding of your needs and it will also outline the benefits of volunteering at EIR and how many events you should volunteer at for rewards, i.e. Complimentary Tickets, Nascar Membership, Banquet ticket, etc. Volunteer Applications are ready now, please email me if you are interested in an application.

We are back in the office now after our trip to the Race Track Promoters Meeting and the NASCAR Meetings and Awards in Charlotte. We learned lots at the Promoters Meeting mostly the big thing now is Social Media Advertising, Facebook, Twitter, Text Messaging, all those wonderful things. So now I am going to upgrade my phone from one that just rings to one that actually has Internet capabilities!

We are currently working on our 2011 race schedule, it won't take too long, I just have to get that organized. We have updated the rules on the Feature Stocks and Hit to Pass so far. There are very minor changes. I will send out the completed rules once all are done, if you want a copy of these so far, just email or call me anytime.

We are updating our points system for 2011, the NASCAR points will stay the same for the Feature Races however we have changed Show Up Points, Heat Races, Qualifying, etc. I will also send those out.

Please keep in touch over the winter months we are always around. It won't be long before the snow melts and race season starts again!
